My worst nightmare

I was in love with my first car: a beautiful, copper-colored Nissan 280ZX.  She was my baby…and when people hurt my baby, it makes me mad!

The first time I took her (yes, my car was a "she") to an auto repair shop, it quickly turned into my worst nightmare.  The guys were idiots — and not very nice, to boot.  The first thing they did was get the wrong key jammed into the ignition, and then called me up to ask (rather accusingly) if that had ever happened before.  Then they took a full month to get the job done on my car, and (when I asked why it wasn’t done) threatened to take even longer if I kept asking.

This was supposed to be a shop that specialized in Asian automotive repair, yet they did a lot of things wrong when they worked on my car.  When I got it back, it ran horribly.  It turned out the shop had dropped the timing chain (which my dad had warned them about, but did they listen? of course not!) and put it back on two notches off from where it was supposed to be.  As a result, my poor car had about as much power as a Geo Metro.

Other things were wrong, too.  They reversed a pulley and a bracket, causing the bearing to go out in the pulley and another pulley to pop off from the pressure.  My transmission also started grinding right away, indicating that they did something wrong there too — my dad wondered if they had slammed the engine into the transmission when they put the engine back in, damaging the bearing or another part in the transmission.

This shows the importance of taking your car to a Houston automotive repair shop you can trust.  A good Houston transmission repair shop could have fixed the problem with my transmission, too.  I probably should have gotten it fixed and sent the first mechanic the bill!
