When Decals Fall Off Funny Messages Strike Ocean Bound Vessels

Have you ever seen the side of a boat that’s missing half of its vinyl lettering? When the names of boats change from "The Darling" to "he Dar ing", you cannot help but laugh a little bit in response. It’s all the more reason to head out to the docks and watch the boats moor up and point out all the boats that did not have their names painted on – you can tell because the letters will be missing.

Of course, the boat owners don’t appreciate being laughed at whenever a letter or window graphics fall off of their boat. It costs them money and usually means people didn’t see the name of their brightly clad, brand new sailing vessel. There’s not much you can do about that.

But, when the magnetic door signs and half of the name on the boat’s stern start to fall off, you really have to be there. Not only can you help by pointing the issues out to the boat owners, but you can make sure, through experience, that if you ever buy a boat, you don’t put it out to sea without painted, varnished, and sealed lettering and signs on every surface. It’s much safer and generally more permanent that way, even if it does cost a little more money and take a little more time.
