Using Promotional Pens to Market: How to Get the Most Mileage Out of Your Product

Promotional pens have long been a favorite promotional product for businesses.  Since pens are both inexpensive and universally useful, they can do a lot of marketing for your business.

Other promotional desk items, such as pencils, mechanical pencils, rulers, staplers, and paperweights, can also be used for this purpose, but promotional pens definitely have more uses.

Here are some great places to leave promotional pens:

  • Independent coffee shops and cafes
  • Libraries (at the computer terminals)
  • Bookstores and newsstands
  • Checkout counters for any type of store, particularly if it is related to your service or product
  • Industry conferences
  • Shows, sales, and other events related to your service or product
  • Anywhere people have to fill out forms, such as the DMV

Promotional items are a great way to get marketing exposure without a lot of expense or hassle.  For example, promotional pens can be purchased for as little as less than $1 each, depending on the style and order size.  When you leave these items in other places, for instance with a cashier at a related store, everyone who uses your pen to sign their credit card slip is going to see your business name and contact info.  Someone might even end up taking the pen; whether by accident or because they are interested in your product or services, this can only benefit you, because ultimately the person will bring the pen into contact with even more people.
