Soy Candles are a Tree Hugger’s Friend

I’ve been an environmentally conscious citizen for much for my life. I drive a Toyota hybrid Prius, eat no meat or dairy, and shun leather and fur. The word “plastic” isn’t even mentioned in my home, perish the though of actually touching anything made of polymer. I thought had the green lifestyle down to a pat, until I realized that I was actually contributing to CO2 in the atmosphere by lighting my favorite lavender scented candles in my bath! Eeeks! These candles are made of paraffin, which in turn is made of petroleum, and we all know what depleting petroleum resources and random drilling of oil are doing to the earth.

My best friend tuned me on to scented soy candles and I must say, I am completely hooked! These are as vegan as could be – they are made of soy wax, which is made of hydrogenated Soya bean oil. So they don’t bun unnecessary petroleum products, polluting the air further. When I looked up Natural soy wax candles online, I was amazed to find they actually produce up to 90 percent less soot than regular candles. I don’t know about you, but I love the thought of not breathing in soot-laden air everyday in my apartment!
